The Mayo County Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships will take place on Sunday,
12 th October at 11am in Ballinrobe Racecourse EIRCODE: F31 E677
1. Registration
 Registration will take place in the Racecourse Pavilion, shown in RED on the map
 Entry fees: €8 per athlete, €15 for two, €20 for three or more.
 Cash only – please bring the correct money.
 Don’t forget to bring 4 safety spins for your race numbers.
 It would be helpful to write names and club on the numbers – especially for the
younger athletes as this will help officials at the finish line and will also help in
producing results which will be issued to clubs after the event.
2. Parking
 Parking will be at Ballinrobe Racecourse shown in GREEN on the map.
 Marshals will be on site to direct traffic.
 Please do not park on the main road
3. Facilities
 Toilets available as marked on the map in BLUE
 First Aid: Civil Defence will be present.
4. Running Order (from 11:00am)
 U9 Girls & Boys – 1000m
 U11 Girls & Boys – 1500m
 U13 Girls & Boys – 2500m
 U15 Girls & Boys – 3500m
 U17 Girls & Boys – 4500m
 U19 Girls & Boys – 4500m
 Senior Women & O65Men – 4500m
 Senior Men – 6000m
Races will follow in order after the U9s.
Adjustments and amalgamations may be made on the day depending on entries.

5. Cross Country Explained
 Competitions are held in uneven ages (U9, U11, U13, etc.) and even ages (U8, U10,
U11, etc.).
 Athletes may compete in both competitions:
 In one, it will be their “good age.”
 In the other, they must run “up an age.” (e.g. An U10 athlete runs U10 in
evens but U11 in uneven).

 Medals:
 All U9 athletes receive participation medals.
 U11+: Top 12 receive medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 10 bronze). This is on a pro
rata basis based on number of participants:
40 or more 12 medals
30-39 – 10 medals
20-29 – 8 medals
10-19 – 6 medals
Less than 10 – 3 medals.
Seniors – Not participating in championship so medals will not be awarded at
this event.
 U11 + Teams top three teams in each age group. (6 Gold, 6 Silver, 6 Bronze)
 Team Competition:
 Teams consist of 4–6 athletes.
 Places = points (e.g. 1st place = 1 point, 10th place = 10 points).
 Lowest score wins. In the event of a tie, the best placed 4 th athlete will decide
the winner.
6. Other Information
 Club tents are allowed in the area marked in PINK on the map (Bookie area of
Racecourse). PLEASE NOTE: Tents will be on Hard Ground. Railings are available
to tie the tents
 Please dress appropriately for the weather (rain gear, umbrellas).
 Wellies can be a good option for walking the track.
 Running spikes are permitted.
 Tea/coffee/snacks will be available, shown in PURPLE on the map – Cash or Card
available.
 Leave No Trace – bins available throughout the course.

Eligibility Reminder
All juvenile athletes are required to compete in the Mayo County Uneven Ages Cross
Country Championships in order to qualify for the Connacht Uneven Ages Championships.

 Any requests for exemption must be submitted to the Westport AC Club Secretary no later than
3:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to the event.
 Exemptions will only be granted under exceptional circumstances.
 All athletes who compete at the Mayo Uneven Championships will automatically
qualify for Connacht Uneven Championship.
We extend our sincere thanks to Lake District AC for once again hosting this event. Their
continued commitment to delivering a high-quality competition is greatly appreciated, and we
are grateful for the dedication and support of all officials and volunteers involved.
Lake District AC will also host the Connacht Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships on
9th November, offering Mayo athletes an excellent opportunity to familiarise themselves with
the course in advance.
