Westport A.C. was thrilled to hear that, once again, another of their junior athletes has been selected to run for Ireland.
Chris Troy has been selected to run for Ireland at the British & Irish Junior Mountain running Championships on the 13th of September in Caernarfon, Wales.
Well deservedly, Chis was selected on the back of a stellar performance at a mountain race held in Laragh, County Wicklow last Sunday. It was a 6km course with almost 300m of elevation. The first 4 females and males in junior (U17) and senior (U20) qualified to represent Ireland.
Although Chris is just 16, he qualified for the U20 category (as he is just out of age for U17).
We wish Chris the very best of luck. His hard work and dedication to training has paid off. Well done
